"Heavy launch Mars Direct is fantasy; we'll use small steps based on entrepreneurial private-enterprise infrastructure from @PlanetaryRsrcs"
Consider posting instead a quick sequence of scripted dialogue to Amazon's Home forum, Home 's Subreddit, or to your own personal blog. Ideally we may offer financial compensation when possible, in the form of prizes, grants, and script writing contests. We will always go out of our way to acknowledge you, your organization, your cause or company in return for scripted contributions such as:
INT. MARS, AMAZE - JIFFY LUBE MECHANIC'S DESK
JACK
Hold on, listen. No way. When NewSpace argued against heavy lift? I took it personally. I mean, look. Yeah, I'm big - I need a big mother rocket, hauling gigantic mass, that's mine. On it. Mice, a few. Cute Chihuahua, maybe - if I skip dinner - but that is highly unlikely. Straight up Heavy Lift. The only way my mass gets to Mars.

YUUTO
At least you can imagine the impossible. You're a full crew with bags.

JACK
The whole manifest. A multitude of Earthlings travell within me. Either Mars Direct or the Lorax's bootstrap I was getting my mass to Mars. You know the little green guy - Lorax - how he pulls himself up with his shoe...doodoodoodooup!

YUUTO
I've never seen pictures of you, when you were - you weren't always, ah, you know - fit but big.

JACK
Massive? Gigantic? Planetoid? Orbiting myself? I was almost diabetic was what I was. I had fat hanging from my arms, jiggling, like, under here, see? Stretch marks still. When I walked parts moved opposite. Seriously. Total chaos. Didn't know if I was all in one direction. Hit or miss. A guess. Momentum could take me anywhere. My motion was beyond prediction: here or there. Woke up one morning, couldn't feel my legs. Thought, "Hey boy, this isn't good." I couldn't - my feet were numb. Tingling. So I changed right then. I thought, what the hell do I want to do before dying? Panicked. Get humans to Mars. That day I applied to the space program. In an hour. Minutes.

YUUTO
Did they hire you?

JACK
Hell no. Not at all. No they did not. No. NASA didn't even have a rocket, but I didn't know - I don't think that was the reason. No. No, that was definitely not the reason. There was no response. Zero. As incomprehensible as that may be, right? The fabled U.S. federal agency responsible for launching massive objects into space did not respond to me, a massive object trying to get to space. I was devastated. I mean this was NASA - I loved NASA since I was two. Before my mom. I told NASA about how much I loved them and space. Nothing. Not "try again next year". I don't know, some fat foreign Irish guy whining about \ America's space program may have been absurd to them but to me it was my last wish - no, they did not. They didn't even see enough humor to send a letter saying "Sorry fatso thanks for the love". Nothing. It made me determined. Furious. I must have burned 100 thousand calories right there. Really. From then on I didn't sit down, I stood at a counter - working. After six PM I didn't eat anything. Exercise, fruits, vegetables - I obsessed about pizza for eight months. I ate no pizza for eight months. Eight months. For NASA. Over half a year without pizza. I did not want to die. If I was going to die I was going to do it usefully on Mars. I lived to get my mass to space. Willed myself to orbit. Lost a hundred and fifty pounds in half a year. Nearly floated. Dropped a person. Cut in half. So much ballast if I had lost it all at once I would have launched myself to space. It was like shedding a bad fat angel. Excreting demons, my girlfriend called it - because I was not in a compatible mood with reality without pizza. I was not fun-jolly-fat-happy-to-be-around guy, not anymore. I was pissed-pizza-obsessed-ignored-by-NASA-get-out-of-my-way guy. First-class steadfast. As ruthless as relentless. I almost wanted pizza as much as I wanted off Earth.

YUUTO
I've seen the obsessed part.

JACK
I made Pillsbury's doughboy look like an obscene aerobics instructor. I - I destroyed the evidence. All. Everything. All the pictures and all the fat. Gone. Would you want pictures of your worst phase in life preserved forever for everyone else to mock you with, for what, what would I gain from anyone knowing I let myself go like that, for who? It wasn't me. It was a mistake. I was a series of bad decisions incarnate. I'm still a mistake but back then I was a massive mistake hated by NASA craving pizza. Fleshed Earth.

YUUTO
You could have used before and after pictures. "This is what I looked like on Earth, this is Mars".

JACK
Became anew. -Planetary Resources began prospecting for water in asteroids - I was like, I'm hired there one way or another. So I applied under fifteen different aliases - complex as can be for all the positions they had open - in Seattle. From Cork. Why not? Never been to America. No idea where Seattle was - could have been Miami. Thought it was in California. Thought the sun shined on it once in a while.

YUUTO
Fifteen fake people? You used fifteen aliases to apply for-

JACK
I was determined. Pure will. Think about it: I gave up pizza, beer, donuts - everything, I can do anything. Especially - like - to Americans. Strategically. They're nice uneducated honest kind friendly people - probably think Cork is California Wine Country anyhow so we're even. Made up names and told them I lived in a house on Google Earth. Went by it after I arrived - nice place. Totally unaffordable. Anyhow sold all my stuff, bought a plane ticket and interviewed to be on duty next week.

YUUTO
I thought you - you have an engineering degree?

JACK
Sort of. I took in my unchashed checks and told them the real story after a month. By then we were friends and I begged to be hired legit - because I didn't have any money and I needed to cash the checks...

YUUTO
A poor man's wealth is ability.

JACK
My ability was speculative, but my determination was unrivaled. I was also able to eat free pizza at work so I was really freaking happy and always there. Stranded in Seattle but living on the plank with pizza. "Either hire me or I don't know - read about me in the letter I leave behind for the evening news." Options limited.

YUUTO
You were an illegal alien?

JACK
Undocumented. Illegal would have been a promotion. I was unknown. Ironically I didn't want to become a citizen - I wanted a flight off the planet. I'm okay with being an illegal human being because - pirates are cool - but then, I was worse than worthless. My parents thought I went to Melbourne. Surfing, if they cared. Anyhow I didn't need to eat because I was 'dieting' on free pizza and space dreams at the YMCA, libraries, park benches - girls's places once I started to look better on a pizza only diet. Planetary enrolled me as a student and let me cash the checks. Then I studied whenever I was awake.

YUUTO
Like everything depended upon studies. These people who complain about overtime and retire after twenty years - give me their work.

JACK
Because being broke is hard work. I didn't want to do that again. I have no problem working - weekends, holidays, all the time. I know what it is like to have no opportunity to ever work on anything.

YUUTO
I think we willed ourselves here. Like a chain of decisions, a series, led by determination, persistence. I had to come here.

JACK
Planetary was building infrastructure which could be used for travel to Mars - with or without heavy lift - no one knows more about their rockets than I do, still. Seriously I could build them out of legos. That's when we designed a ship which would refuel with water from asteroids in low-Earth orbit to haul mass - my mass - inexpensively to Mars.

YUUTO
You make yourself an astronaut. You know I loathe that word. Everyone's an astronaut. What does that mean? Car driver in space?

JACK
Marsonaut.

YUUTO
Choking. -A human, who happens to live on Mars.

JACK
John. Who is alive. John and Yuuto - a big and thin guy who brew beer in plastic bags hidden in vents of a habitat on another planet to have a little fun on the rare hour they're not working.

YUUTO
I'll lift my bag to that.

JACK
I'm glad you made it too. Can you imagine if everyone here were like - Franké?

YUUTO
He's an astronaut. No really. He was selected for NASA - didn't go anywhere - except 230 miles up, and down, up and down, but, he got called "astronaut". Still not human being.

If you work in space development or its advocacy community bear with us. We want to get this right...there will be plenty of time to share opportunities for direct participation once 'Home' is an established series. Don't worry about formatting or fonts or screenplay slug lines. Just tell us who is speaking and what they say. We need comedic dialogue. Don't point cameras. We hire camera pointers for that. We need jokes, funny stories, comedic engaging interesting if not educational science-literate dialogue.
